MEISSEN AND MORITZBURG

Enjoy a day out and experience the charm of the city of porcelain. Porcelain production started in Meissen in 1710 in the Albrechtsburg castle, whose large group of buildings still dominates over the city. Today the 'white gold', as it was called in the 18th century, is produced in an impressive nineteenth century factory , which we will visit. One should not leave Meissen without having had a stroll around its romantic medieval city centre. The founding date of the castle of Meissen in 929 situates Meissen in 'the cradle of Saxon History'. Moritzburg Palace, which we will visit on our way back to Dresden, is set in a wide array of lakes, which enhances the high scenic quality of its baroque architecture. It was used each year for great hunting occasions where the whole Polish and Saxon nobility had to take part.
